We are looking for an experienced Head of Maintenance to lead a large, complex maintenance function within a 24/7 heavy manufacturing environment.
The business has experienced teams, strong technical capability and a clear ambition to transform its maintenance operation. You will be responsible for bringing together mechanical, electrical, automation, planning and shift maintenance into one cohesive function, improving reliability, maintenance planning and operational performance.
This is a highly visible leadership role, working closely with Operations to improve equipment uptime, reduce repeat failures and develop the next generation of maintenance professionals.
Role Description:
- Develop and deliver the site's maintenance strategy.
- Improve the balance between reactive, preventative and predictive maintenance.
- Reduce repeat failures through structured root cause analysis.
- Improve MTTR, MTBF, planned maintenance compliance and overall equipment reliability.
- Strengthen maintenance planning, scheduling and shift handovers.
- Lead and develop supervisors, engineers and apprentices.
- Improve the use of CMMS data and maintenance history.
- Manage maintenance budgets, contractors, critical spares and external suppliers.
- Support Operations during major breakdowns, outages and critical incidents.
- Lead a safe, compliant and high-performing maintenance function within a demanding industrial environment.
- Capture and transfer knowledge from experienced engineers while developing future engineering talent.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience leading a large maintenance function within a heavy manufacturing or process environment.
- Experience within sectors such as metals, foundry, casting, rolling, steel, aluminium or other 24/7 industrial manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, automation, controls, maintenance planning and reliability engineering.
- Proven experience improving maintenance performance and leading organisational change.
- Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.
- Experience working closely with production and operations teams.
