Production Manager - Precision Engineering - Nottingham
Salary: £60000-70000
Nottinghamshire | Circa £60,000–£65,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus
Great career opportunity for an experienced Production Manager / Manufacturing Manager to join a successful global company at their manufacturing site in South Nottingham, operating within the precision engineering sector.
As Production Manager, you will have responsibility for all production areas on site, managing a team of approximately 70 people.
This is a genuinely hands-on Production Manager role. The company is looking for someone who enjoys being visible on the shop floor, working closely with teams, making daily operational decisions and driving projects and improvements – rather than being sat behind a desk all day.
Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement are key priorities for the site, so a strong understanding of Lean / CI principles is essential. A Six Sigma qualification or similar would be highly advantageous.
You don’t need to have worked as a CNC operator, but you must have previous management or supervisory experience within a precision engineering / CNC manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Take overall responsibility for production performance, ensuring quality, delivery, cost and safety targets are achieved.
- Set and monitor production goals and performance expectations.
- Maximise machine utilisation and promote a strong TPM culture.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Manage production cost centres and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration across Production and other departments.
- Work closely with Supply Chain on Make vs Buy decisions.
- Support the introduction of new technologies, working with global teams where required.
- Conduct appraisals and develop talent across the production team.
Experience Required:
- Proven experience as a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager or Production Supervisor within precision engineering.
- Experience managing teams in a CNC / precision manufacturing environment.
- Five or more years’ people management experience.
- Strong understanding of production planning, quality, engineering, Lean, finance, HR and IT.
- Practical experience of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Engineering or Manufacturing degree advantageous but not essential.
- Six Sigma qualification advantageous.
Salary & Benefits:
- Circa £60,000–£65,000 salary.
- £650 per month car allowance.
