We are currently recruiting for a Technical Solutions Engineer to join a leading UK manufacturing and contract packaging business supplying solutions to major blue-chip brands, FMCG manufacturers and some of the UK's largest retailers.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving problems, developing new ideas and improving machinery and manufacturing processes.
The position is much more varied than a traditional maintenance role. You will be involved across R&D, NPD, engineering projects, machinery optimisation, automation, packaging development, trials and continuous improvement, giving you the opportunity to make a genuine impact across the operation.
The Role
As Technical Solutions Engineer, you will work closely with engineering, production, operations and commercial teams to develop and implement practical engineering solutions.
Your responsibilities will include developing, testing and implementing solutions to improve machinery, packaging processes, line performance and product quality; supporting R&D and New Product Development projects; conducting machinery, packaging and production trials; and supporting the introduction and optimisation of new packaging machinery and automation.
You'll identify engineering problems, carry out root cause analysis and implement permanent solutions, improve existing machinery through practical modifications and upgrades, support technical projects for major FMCG customers and retailers and produce technical documentation including test reports, specifications, risk assessments and technical drawings.
You'll also support Lean, Kaizen, OEE and waste-reduction projects and evaluate new machinery, materials, tools and technologies.
The Candidate
We are interested in speaking with engineers from mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, automation, manufacturing, process or industrial engineering backgrounds.
You should ideally have a Level 3 Engineering qualification or above, strong hands-on engineering and problem-solving ability, manufacturing, production, FMCG or packaging experience and knowledge of automated machinery, packaging equipment or product-handling systems.
Experience with R&D, NPD, machinery development, automation, Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, CAD, prototyping, 3D printing or packaging machinery would be advantageous.
